The South Palace, also known as Thekke Kottaram situated at Shangumugham beach, in Thiruvananthapuram, with a rich historical past of its own, will now be known as the new art hub. While the renovated palace will be administered by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the newly launched art house, Shangumugham art museum will be a place for artistic events and artists to indulge in their creative pursuits.
The museum was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday. Prominent personalities such as renowned painter and sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, Sudhir Patwardhan, Mayor VK Prasanth, Aji Adoor, Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran, filmmaker Lenin Rajendran attended the do. The event was followed by a musical concert by prolific percussionist Mattanur Shakarankutty, K Karunamurthy and Biju Mallari.
