Ekalavya is a character from the Mah?bh?rata, A self trained archer who had to cut his own thumb as Guru dakshina (fees) to Dronacharya when asked. Dronacharya the teacher earlier denied teaching him archery because he was not a kshatriya (A Hindu varna - caste).
